Elderly woman stabbed to death inside her home
A 59-year-old woman was stabbed to death by a man who entered her home in Project 3 of Brgy. Sooc, Arevalo in Iloilo City early morning yesterday.
The victim, Gilda de los Reyes, suffered 11 stab wounds on the different parts of her body. She died before reaching Western Visayas Medical Center.
He neighbors said shouts for help of Rea Mae Alada, Gilda’s daughter, was heard at around 3:30 a.m.
Tanod commander Jose Suyo said that when he entered the victim’s house, he saw De los Reyes lying on her stomach.
She had her daughter and the latter’s child and niece as her companions at home.
Alada’s policeman husband was on duty during the incident. She said
she was awakened by her mother’s voice.
Arevalo Police Station chief, Senior Insp. Eliezer Baclagon, said they already have a suspect but he refused to name him yet.
Baclagon ruled out robbery as a motive because the family did not declare any missing valuable.
Investigation showed that De los Reyes and the suspect knew each other and the victim did not like the suspect entering their house.
The victim admonished him until they had an argument.*
