Teener drowns while looking for spider
ROXAS CITY – A 14-year-old boy drowned in Panay River last Sunday while looking for a spider.
The victim was identified as Regie Balbeno, a resident of Brgy. Bungsuan, Dumarao, Capiz.
The victim’s companions said they crossed the Panay River along Brgy. Badbaranan but along the way Balbeno disappeared as he was believed to have been carried away by the strong current.
In Capiz, spider fight is a favorite pasttime of both children and adults who bet during the game.
Meanwhile, the body of a five-year-old boy was found Sunday morning at a dam in Brgy. Maindang, Cuartero.
Police report said the boy fell and drowned.*
