City indigents to get mosquito nets
ROXAS CITY – Indigent families in villages with high dengue cases will receive mosquito nets as part of the initiatives to contain dengue in the city, Mayor Angel Alan Celino said.
He said about 5,000 mosquito nets will be distributed to the city’s 47 barangays.
There are 18 casualties of dengue so far in Capiz, aside from 2,392 patients as of last week.
Roxas City has the highest number of cases with 762 victims and 10 deaths, according to the Provincial Health Office.
Earlier, the city government launched the “Oplan Patay” Lamok to stop the spread of dengue while the minority bloc in the City Council led by Councilor Teresita Almalbis also conducted their anti-dengue campaign dubbed “Oplan Dengue Alert 6 to 6” in cooperation with the Department of Education.
Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. also formed the Oplan Kontra Dengue to, among others, destroy the habitats of dengue carrying-mosquitoes after the province was placed under a state of calamity.
Earlier, Tanco directed all 16 towns and one component city to immediately create a task force composed of composite team to prepare and outrightly implement a working plan aimed at preventing and controlling the occurrence and prevalence of dengue fever through their respective rural health units and barangay officials.*
