Capitol to prioritize road repairs
The Iloilo provincial government will prioritize the rehabilitation of damaged provincial roads particularly those located in depressed municipalities in the province.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said he already asked Provincial Administrator Raul Banias to identify which provincial roads should be repaired first.
Bad roads delay the delivery of agricultural and other products from far-flung areas.
Defensor said he has also ordered the procurement of additional equipment such as dump trucks, graders, and prime mover to be used during the road repairs.
“We need a prime mover so that our trucks and backhoe could be transported to other towns without destroying our highways and roads,” he said.
The governor directed the immediate repair of some damaged dump trucks. The provincial government owns 40 dump trucks but most of these are undergoing repair.
Defensor said he will also request for additional gasoline allowance for the government owned trucks, adding that he is also proposing for one service vehicle per department so that provincial government transactions can be done without delay.
