‘Race to genuine public service’
The clamor for genuine public service through increased transparency and accountability has set government agencies into a R.A.C.E, or providing Responsive, Accessible, Courteous and Effective Public Service.
Civil Service Commission 6 Regional Director Rodolfo Encajonado said R.A.C.E. is this year’s theme for the month-long celebration of the 110th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service.
He said this theme urges civil servants nationwide to respond to the call for change anchored on President Aquino’s call for reform by weeding our corruption.
In a taped message distributed for airing during the simultaneous Flag raising activities in agencies nationwide, September 6, President Aquino rallied state workers to advance genuine public service to the Filipino people.
The President called the more or less 1.4 million government workers his “partners” in public service and lauded them for their work as he told them, “. . . umaasa ako sa patuloy na pag-alab ng tunay na serbisyo sa ating mga puso.”
In a CSC circular, the regional agencies and local government units are enjoined to undertake activities like launching of R.A.C.E. by putting up exhibits of services and accomplishments, conduct Honors Awards Program, meetings and dialogues with their stakeholders to gather feedbacks and suggestions on how government agencies may provide excellent services, and conduct of Government Express at the Malls, or one-stop shop frontline services and action centers where queries or complaints can be attended to.*
