Delicana elected PCL-Capiz president
ROXAS CITY – Panay Councilor Leobeth Deslate-Delicana was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League-Capiz, defeating Tapaz Councilor Karen Palomar in a closely contested election held at the Rustic Bar and Restaurant on Monday.
Delicana of Lakas/Ugyon Kita Capiz garnered 86 votes over Palomar’s 83.
Delicana’s running mate Dumarao Councilor Francis Dave Juanico, who got 85 votes, also defeated Maayon Councilor Syvil Dueñas-Diamante, with 72 votes, in the vice presidential race.
Also elected were: Elmer Arivalo of Mambusao, secretary-general; Maria Nena Jacqueline Almeida of Pontevedra, treasurer; Stephen Alayon of Sigma, auditor; Ronald Guillermo of Cuartero, press relations officer; and Jelly Farinas of Tapaz, business manager.
The Board of Directors is composed of Leon Escutin of Dao; Leo Teves of Dumalag; Noel Yap of Ivisan; Roy Leonor of Jamindan; Perseus Garcia of Sapian; Teresa Almalbis of Roxas City; Arnold Perez of Pilar; and Ruben Henderin of Cuartero.
In an interview, Delicana vowed to unite the councilors in Capiz through initiatives that promote camaraderie among them regardless of their political affiliations.
She will also urge every municipality to put up a database of resolutions and ordinances in a website, like what is being done by Panay town, in the spirit of transparency.
Delicana thanked those who supported her, adding that her victory shows the UKC is still solid.*
