Inter-agency body aims to reach more Capiceños
ROXAS CITY – The inter-agency group of Capiz has vowed to reach more Capiceños to become health insurance members.
Led by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) office in Capiz headed by Joe Frederick Diaz, the team aims to enroll more Capiceños, particularly those in the informal sector.
Diaz said to attain the goal, and immediately after the nationwide PhilHealth registration day dubbed “October 2 PhilHealth Sabado” activity, more advocacies will be done in different areas in Capiz to ensure that all household members will become PhilHealth members.
He said they can only attain a universal coverage as promised by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III during his first State of the Nations Address by stepping up their advocacy and registration of members.
Diaz said they will also tap the Department of Education to reach more parents through the Parents-Teachers Association.
A close coordination with the local chief executives and other local officials will be initiated to identify the non-PhilHealth members and encourage them to become a member, he said.
Diaz said the increase in awareness level on the importance of becoming a PhilHealth member will surely encourage more Capiceños to enroll and avail of quality health services.
Other members of the inter-agency group are the Department of Health, Provincial Health Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Office of the Governor, Provincial and City Social Welfare and Development Offices and Provincial Press Bureau.
Diaz said Capiz has already reached a universal coverage in 2009 based on their target during the Arroyo administration, which sets an 85-percent health insurance coverage.*PIA
