Convention to open tourism week
ROXAS CITY – A convention of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism students and teachers at the Filamer Christian University today will kick off the tourism week celebration in Capiz.
Now on its fifth year, the convention will gather about 800 participants from various schools in the region offering HRM and Tourism-related courses.
Department of Tourism 6 Regional Director Edwin Trompeta will be the keynote speaker on the theme “Enhancing Local Expertise in Hospitality Industry as an Edge for Global Opportunities.”
The conference will also feature an exhibit of tourism products and attractions in the province.
The opening day activities for the week-long celebration will also include the opening of WOW Capiz Photo Exhibit and induction of officers of the Organization of Tourism Officers of Capiz at the Gaisano City mall.
The provincial government will also launch a “House of Wellness” that will feature the traditional Filipino massage called “hilot” at the Dungog Indigenous People’s Village at the Villareal Stadium.
The celebration will be capped by sundown cultural performances dubbed “Pahigbuk” on September 30 at the Capiz Provincial Park.*PIA
