‘Make Roxas City gambling free or else’
ROXAS CITY – Mayor Angel Alan Celino has warned illegal gambling operators here to make the city gambling free or else, he will bring the full force of the law against them.
Celino, in a press conference yesterday, said he is giving them until midnight of Thursday to stop their operations.
“I know them all and I appeal to them to stop their illegal activities in order to make the city gambling free,” he said.
Although he knows the illegal gambling operators, they cannot simply be arrested because he does not want to violate their rights, the mayor said.
Celino, however, said should they fail to stop their illegal activities, he will already name them.
Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas shared the mayor’s warning as he believes there should be a war against all forms of illegal gambling in the city.
Senior Supt. Khasmir Disomangcop, city police chief, said bet collectors have already been arrested and this could jeopardize illegal gambling operations because each arrested person has a bail of P20,000 each.*
