PPCRV prepares for brgy., SK polls
ROXAS CITY – The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting-Capiz Chapter conducted an orientation for its members on September 25 at the Mass Communications Production Room of the Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion in preparation for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on October 25.
At the orientation, participants were reminded on the calendar of events and prohibited activities during the election period.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has announced that those aspiring for village and youth council seats may file their certificates of candidacy from October 1 to 13.
COMELEC Resolution No. 9019 sets the election period to September 25 to November 10.
During the 45 day election period, the COMELEC said that carrying of firearms and deadly weapons will be prohibited. The use of bodyguards by candidates is also disallowed during the said period.
The campaign period for the barangay and SK polls will start on October 14 and end on October 23.
Casting of votes on October 25, election day, will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Counting and canvassing of votes and the proclamation of winning candidates will start immediately after the casting of votes, the COMELEC said.* PIA
