Cabbie robbed, slain in city’s posh village
A taxi driver was found dead early morning of yesterday in a posh subdivision in La Paz district, Iloilo City.
Senior Insp. Lorenez Losaria, chief of La Paz Police Station, identified the victim as Jurimon Juridico, 33, of Brgy. Magsaysay, Maasin, Iloilo.
The victim, driver of Tata Taxi with plate number FWP-592, was slumped in the front passenger seat of his vehicle parked in a secluded area of Ledesco Subdivision.
Juridico sustained a lone stab injury on his chest and a defense wound on his arm.
Norbert de Asis, a tricycle driver plying the village, saw Juridico’s body at past 6 a.m.
The driver’s wallet was still with him, but his collection money was believed to have been stolen.
Security personnel said the taxi entered the subdivision at around 2:30 a.m.
The blue guard said Juridico surrendered his driver’s license at the gate.
He said there were three passengers, but he could not remember their faces.
The suspects could have fled on foot and passed through the subdivision’s exit connected at the nearby Puerto Real Subdivision.
“An elderly woman allegedly saw three men washing their hands. We surmised that they were the ones who robbed and stabbed Juridico,” Losaria said.
But aside from that lead, he admitted that they are facing a blankwall on the identities of the suspects.
Their probe at the area of MO2 Bar and Restaurant at Smallville Complex in Mandurriao district has yet to yield a positive result.
The three suspects reportedly boarded Juridico’s cab in front of the bar.*
