Ruthless blast condemned
Lex Reviews and Seminars Inc., pioneer in bar provincial reviews strongly condemns the ruthless blast during the last Sunday of the Bar exams on September 26.
The grenade blast occurred right outside La Salle Taft in front of McDonald’s when the barristers were just finished with the last Bar subject, Legal Ethics. This is where well-wishers, friends, and families of those who took the Bar exams normally stay to meet the barristers.
Instead of the traditional “Salubong,” what greeted the barristers was the horrifying explosion that injured around 50 innocent people, including two Law students one of whom needs amputation of both legs, and the other is in critical condition.
A Panay Lex reviewee shares, “It was a blessing in disguise that we chose not to go to that direction. It happened 5 to 10 minutes before 5 p.m. I told my co-reviewee that we’ll stay first and wait for the other reviewees to get out of La Salle. And then, we heard a blast and there was commotion on the opposite side already.”
Another Panay Lex reviewee says that she was just spared from the blast because she just passed that area when the grenade exploded and then there was stampede.
A barrister from Cebu explains that even the security guards were shocked with what happened right after the incident when there was already stampede. It was even he who told them to put a police line since it is a scene of the crime.
Here we can see that the authorities are not ready to counter these treacherous aggressions.
The barristers are already physically, mentally and psychologically exhausted from answering the Bar exams. They deserve to at least, be secured to be alive when they get out of the Bar exam premises.*
