Mabilog: ICPO chief should explain rising criminalities
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, city police director, should explain the increasing number of criminalities in the city, majority of which have remained unsolved.
Upset by the succeeding crime events, Mabilog said he will call for an emergency meeting with city police officials and station commanders shortly to discuss crime prevention efforts.
He said police station chiefs will be relieved immediately if they cannot solve crime incidents under their respective areas of responsibility.
The mayor had earlier warned La Paz police station chief, Senior Insp. Lorenez Losaria, to shape up after four succeeding crime incidents took place in his area, including the killing of 20-year-old-nursing student Dominique Ann Estampador in Brgy. Baldoza last week.
At Ledesco Village on Monday, cabbie Jurimon Juridico of Tata Taxi was found dead inside his vehicle parked in a secluded area of the subdivision.
Mabilog said he wants policemen together with the barangay tanods to increase foot patrol and visibility operations starting at 8 p.m. until the wee hours of the morning.
He said that curfew hours must be observed, not only by minors, but also by persons roaming aimlessly.*
