Dumalag hosts coop month event
DUMALAG, Capiz – Mayor Lilia Castro led the municipal government of Dumalag in hosting the Cooperative Month celebration last Wednesday, attended by officials of local government units and national government agencies.
The 18th Provincial Cooperative Month celebration is themed “One coop movement, One vision, One nation.”
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. said the cooperative month celebration brings Capiceños together as one.
Members of the cooperative are equal in the organization unlike in a corporation where bigger shareholders became major stockholders and bosses, he said.
Tanco said because of the members’ cooperation with each other, the cooperative is successful and united.
“It’s like a war against dengue fever, when there is unity, we will win the war against it. In unity, we will also win the war against poverty,” he added.
Meanwhile, four cooperatives were recognized as the most outstanding cooperatives in Capiz during the program. These are: Jamindan School Teachers Cooperative, President Roxas Economic Development Cooperative, Mambusao Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Jagnaya Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Before the program at Ricardo Castro Jr. Memorial Hall, the 16 municipalities in Capiz, along with schools and several cooperatives, held a grand parade.
Officials present were Annie del Rosario Arancillo, who represented 1st District Rep. Antonio del Rosario, Vice Gov. Esteban Contreras, Board Members Jonathan Besa, Aldwin Cruz-Am, Mimi Ardivilla, Remia Bartolome and Eduardo Magallanes, and former Board Member Ricky Martin.
