The Modern Patadyong
Dodi Vril Tan at the 3rd Indigenous Fiber Fashion Week
The collection of Dodi Vril Tan, Iloilo City’s young designer, was the third feature at the 3rd Indigenous Fiber Fashion Week held in SM City Iloilo recently.
Tan said that his inspiration was an old town girl and the dying industry of weaving. “She’s very desperate to come up with mystical powers that could transform her into a beautiful woman wearing a patadyong fabric. Then, she was able to make patadyong wearable, proving to others that this material can be trendy and fashionable,” Tan said.
The fashion show was directed by Bombette Marin.
The 3rd Indigenous Fiber Fashion Week was a celebration of Visayan indigenous crafts and hand-loomed textiles. Beside the activity center where the shows were held was an exhibit of bags, hats and cloth made of indigenous materials that were created by weavers of the Province of Iloilo.
