Couple killed in road mishap
A couple was instantly killed after their car rammed into a tree Friday afternoon in Barotac Nuevo town, Iloilo.
Police identified the victims as Jaime Setias, 40, and his wife, Colie Marie, 37, of Gran Plains Subdivision, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Jaime was working in a shipping company as a chief engineer while Colie Marie was a professor in a university in Iloilo City.
Investigation showed the couple came from Iloilo City and were on their way to Estancia town when the accident happened.
Setias, who was behind the wheel, lost control of their vehicle after he tried to overtake a truck along Brgy. Acuit.
The car did not collide with the truck, but it hit a tree along the highway. The vehicle was a wreck.
Residents in the area said they found it difficult to get the victims’ bodies out of the vehicle.
Police said the couple were already dead when they were brought to the hospital.*
