ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Appointments recently confirmed the ad interim re-appointments of 148 general/flag and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines following the initial deliberation conducted by the CA’s committee on national defense chaired by Capiz 1st District Rep. Antonio del Rosario.
A report from the congressional district revealed that Del Rosario’s committee approved the confirmation of Lt General Ricardo A. David Jr., chief of staff of the AFP, and Lt. General Reynaldo Mapagu, commanding general of he Philippine Army, along with 146 others.
Del Rosario said of the 146, ten were promoted to major generals, one rear admiral, 21 brigadier generals, three commodores, 100 colonels, and 11 navy captains.
“The committee decided to immediately approve and recommend to the plenary the confirmation of these AFP officers as these are the officers who have no reports of sworn opposition filed before the CA, but we deferred the others who have slight problems,” Del Rosario said.
He added that these officers were already appointed by the past administration during the 14th Congress but there was no time anymore for the CA to deliberate on it that the present administration re-appointed them when the 15th Congress resumed last July.*
