Guv urges right enforcement of Provincial Revenue Code
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has called on the chiefs of the different provincial government offices to study the Provincial Revenue Code and ensure its proper enforcement.
Provincial Ordinance No. 2010-084 otherwise known as the 2010 Provincial Revenue Code of Iloilo has taken effect starting October 1 this year.
The ordinance authored by former Third District Board Member, now Rep. Arthur Defensor Jr. embodies amendments, modification, and codification of previous revenue ordinances of the province.
It was passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on June 8, 2010 but former Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. did not sign it. However, after the lapse of the 15-day period the ordinance was deemed approved as if the governor had signed it pursuant to Section 54 (b) of the Local Government Code of 1991.
The effectivity of the ordinance came after its publication late last month.
The 2010 Provincial Revenue Code aims to increase the income of the province and at the same time lower the charges in provincial and district hospitals for the benefit of the needy patients.
Among the salient points of the 2010 Provincial Revenue Code is the provision requiring applicants for quarry permits to secure barangay clearance and the endorsement of the mayor before they could proceed with the activity.
The ordinance also provides for the increase of amusement tax by 20 per cent. It also reduces by five per cent the charges on service patients in the provincial and district hospitals.
Moreover, the ordinance specifies the rental fees for the province’s various heavy equipment and facilities.*
