Iloilo needs master plan–Defensor
Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. urged the officials of Iloilo City along with the business sector to come up with a master plan for the city and province for a harmonious implementation of projects necessary for progress and development.
Defensor made the call in yesterday’s “Infrastructure Summit: Partnership for Better Infrastructure” organized by the Iloilo Business Club and Research, Education and Institutional Development (REID) Foundation Inc. held at Amigo Terrace Hotel.
Defensor said he is willing to sit down with Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who was also present in the summit, to talk about formulating a master plan.
The governor said there are a number of things that intertwine the city and province. “Progress in the province depends upon how the city treats us,” Defensor said, citing as example the existing transport terminals that serve the people from the province.
Defensor said most of the people working and doing business in the city are from the province.
“We must sit down and identify our basic needs and problems like power, garbage, drainage, sidewalk vendors, traffic, water, etc.,” Defensor said.
Also present at the summit were Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas and Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Romeo Momo.*
