2 killed, 1 wounded in Pontevedra ambush
ROXAS CITY – Two persons were killed while one was seriously wounded after they were ambushed by still unidentified assailants in Brgy. Binantucan, Pontevedra, Capiz Wednesday night.
Senior Insp. Kenneth Militar, Pontevedra police chief, identified the fatalities as Arnel de Bawden and Rustico Fuentes, both residents of Pontevedra town.
Injured was Arnel Damuos, also from the same place.
De Bawden sustained gunshot wounds on different parts of his body, while his left arm was cut off by a bladed weapon of an assailant. Fuentes was injured by shrapnels from a 12-gauge shotgun.
Damuos is now recuperating at Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital.
Militar said the incident took place at around 7 p.m. on Wednesday while the victims were on their way home to Sitio Uyapad, Binantucan from a drinking spree in a nearby barangay.
De Bawden called for help prompting Damous to respond and he was also shot by the assailants.
When De Bawden fell down, an attacker hacked him on his left arm.
Militar said the incident might be a retaliation from the attackers because the two fatalities were also involved in a killing incident last month.
The police recovered from the scene of incident eight spent shells of a 12-gauge shotgun.*
