Six Capiz policemen attend hostage negotiation seminar
ROXAS CITY – Six policemen from Capiz attended the Hostage Negotiation Seminar last October 1 at the Police Regional Office 6 in Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office delegates to the 10-day seminar were Supt. Arnold Ardiente and SPO3 Paterno Velarde of the Provincial Public Safety Management Company, Insp. Efren Clavaton and PO2 Ramil Arcangeles of Roxas City Police Station , and PO3 Cyril Punsalan and PO1 Jerly Mae Lapasaran of CPPO.
Ardiente is PPSMC commander while Clavaton is RCPS Traffic Section chief.
They were among the estimated 50 police participants from the various police stations in Western Visayas.
The activity was designed to manage hostage dramas and handle media coverage should a similar incident to the crisis in Quirino Grandstand in Manila last August 23 will happen in the region.
The hostage-taking incident killed the eight hostages and the suspect.
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, former police regional director, ordered the conduct of a simulation exercise on hostage crisis in the provinces to review the police procedures in dealing with critical situations.
