Double murder raps readied vs 2 suspects
The Iloilo City Police Office is eyeing double murder charges against two suspects in the killing of businesswoman Rose Tan and her househelp Ma. Purificacion Catoera.
“Our investigation leads to at least two suspects behind the murder,” ICPO director, Senior Supt. Dennis Basngi, said.
Basngi said they are seeking all legal assistance possible, including from the City Prosecutor’s Office, to help them establish a good case against the suspects.
By all indications, investigation pointed to Tan’s associate in her lending business as the possible main suspect, he said.
Basngi did not elaborate on the profile of the second suspect but said they have the name of the main suspect’s cohort.
The main suspect is the man said to be the last person seen with Tan Sunday evening, days before her body was found under the bed inside a room at Queen’s Court Drive-In Hotel in Mandurriao district.
However, when the police called him up, the man claimed that he was in Mindanao since Sunday evening.
He is believed to be the driver of the pick-up vehicle that entered Queen’s Court Drive-In Hotel and occupied Room 138 between 6:05 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, Basngi said that despite two-week ultimatum issued by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to the ICPO to solve the double murder case, he said they are taking things slowly but surely.
He assured the mayor they are doing everything they could to solve the twin murder the soonest time possible.*
