91 bets for village head in Neg.Occ. unopposed
Ninety-one candidates for punong barangay (village head) in Negros Occidental are sure winners in today’s election.
The Commission on Election provincial office in Negros Occidental specifically cited the town of Pulupandan as having the most number of candidates for punong barangay running unopposed, with 17.
Majority of their supposed rivals have withdrawn from the race after learning that their opponents were avid supporters of incumbent Pulupandan Mayor Magdaleno Peña.
Other candidates were forced to withdraw their candidacy for fear of eviction and their houses demolished if they continue to pursue their candidacy.
Meanwhile, the COMELEC, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and the Catholic church have jointly pooled their efforts in reaching out to the different municipalities and cities in Negros Occidental for the signing of peace covenant among candidates to ensure a peaceful and honest election.*PNA
