One-way street in city’s central business district
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is keen on decongesting the main streets along the Central Business District in hopes to improve traffic and pedestrian activities.
Mabilog said a one-way street in the central business area will definitely provide more space for commuters and vehicles.
This will also make business activities in the area easier and accessible, he said.
Mabilog said the one-street scheme will be implemented along the Iznart-J.M. Basa Streets going to the Plaza Libertad Area, and along Muelle Loney Street.
He said other main streets in the city will also be turned into a one-way street once the new traffic route is implemented.
Mabilog said it is just one of the traffic plans that he intends to implement especially that the city is getting too crowded during early mornings.
The one-way street scheme will be implemented through the Transportation Management and Traffic Regulations Office.
The mayor said the city government will implement the new traffic and rerouting scheme as soon as possible.*PNA
