Tourists flock to Boracay during Halloween holidays
There has been an influx of tourists especially from Metro Manila in Boracay Island during the All Saints’ Day holidays as noted by the Department of Tourism 6.
Tourism Regional Director Edwin Trompeta said that over the weekend and during the All Saints’ Day on Monday tourists enjoyed the white sand beach and entertainment venues in the island-resort.
So far, the DOT 6 has not received any police report on any untoward incident during the holidays except for the fire incident that razed about 25 private houses and mix-occupancy structures in Sitio Amblong, Bgy. Manoc-manoc Wednesday last week.
The fire has not affected any visitor in the island.
Tourists from Metro Manila come to Boracay via the Caticlan and Kalibo airports and the roll-on, roll-off ferries from Batangas via Mindoro to Aklan.
World Travel Mart
Meanwhile, Trompeta said five major tourism-related establishments in Western Visayas will join the World Travel Mart in London on November 8 to 11.
These establishments are Boracay Regency, Friday’s, Alta Vista, and Astoria, all in Boracay island, and Jaunts and Journeys Travel Agency in Negros Occidental.
Trompeta said he is also awaiting the confirmation of the OroPhil owned by former Bacolod Rep. John Orola, who also owns VMA Global College, and other shipping and manning services in Negros Occidental.
The World Travel Mart will be participated by around 350 countries, with
an expected 15,000 buyers from all over the world.
“We need to have presence otherwise the sellers will forget us,” Trompeta said.*PNA
