‘No major incidents on Nov. 1, 2’
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Police Provincial Director Renato Gumban said no major incidents were recorded in line with the Capiceños’ observance of the All Saints’ Day on November 1 and the All Souls’ Day on November 2.
Gumban said the high police visibility in private and public cemeteries, churches, seaport, airports, and bus and jeepney terminals in the province has helped prevent crimes.
He said the Capiz Provincial Police Office also established public assistance centers manned by police officers in cemeteries in every town.
“We also did some rerouting activities to ease the traffic (for those who) visiting their beloved departed in the cemeteries,” Gumban said.
Earlier, CPPO Information Officer Donna Asmod said Gumban called for a command conference with all the chiefs of police from the 16 towns, including Roxas City, for the presentation of their preparations and deployment of police officers for the said events.
Based on the final briefing, almost 90 percent of the police personnel in the province were deployed.
She said Gumban also directed all policemen in Capiz to disseminate crime prevention tips especially against snatchers and pickpockets in churches and cemeteries.*PIA
