Preliminary hearing set for Simon murder cases
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office will hold the preliminary hearing for the double murder and frustrate homicide cases filed against Rodelio Simon, son of Sigma Vice Mayor Rodolfo Simon, on November 12.
The younger Simon is facing charges for killing of Lorna Marquinez, 50; and her daughter Mary Jane, 27. He also stabbed Lorna’s younger daughter, Jenny, 16.
At around 1:30 p.m. on November 1, Simon entered the house of Marquinez family in Poblacion Sur while the victims were asleep.
Lorna and Mary Jane sustained stab wounds below their chests. They were declared dead at Saint Anthony College Hospital in Roxas City. Jenny suffered minor wounds.
Police said Simon, 31, attacked Mary Jane first. When her mother woke up, the suspect also stabbed her.
Although wounded Jenny was able to leave their house and sought help from their neighbors.*
