San Miguel farmers installed in Hao estate
Sixteen agrarian reform beneficiaries were installed by the Department of Agrarian Reform Iloilo Provincial Office last Friday at the Hao Estate formerly owned by Jose Hao in Sto. Niño, San Miguel, Iloilo.
The property has a total area of 10.7513 hectares.
Despite opposition from Hao’s son and his lawyer, the Task Force on Farmer Beneficiaries Installation headed by Atty. Rexinor John Demogena proceeded with the installation.
The process started with a pulong-pulong where various issues and concerns were raised by the farmers and addressed by the Task Force.
Members of San Miguel Police Station were present during the installation and will continue to assist in the maintenance of peace and order especially in the land survey activity of a team from DAR in the next five working days.
From January to October this year, the DAR Iloilo has installed 839 farmers in about 1,320 hectares, involving 64 landowners.*
