3 siblings, pal nabbed in drug bust
Three siblings and their friend were arrested following a drug bust operation at Brgy. Bakhaw in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City Wednesday evening.
First arrested was Randy del Rio, 38, of De Leon St., Iloilo City, after he handed a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” to a poseur buyer.
Also collared were Mena siblings Jeomar, 37, George Jr., 34, and Mycel , 25, all residents of Zone 2 Brgy. Bakhaw, one of the city’s drug havens.
The operation was conducted by the Iloilo City Police Office Task Group Anti-Illegal Drugs led by Chief Insp. Dande Deocampo, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 and Iloilo City Police Station 5.
PDEA 6 Regional Director Paul Ledesma said the suspects were caught during a “pot session” in an area deemed to be a drug den.
“Apart from selling, they are also using illegal drugs,” he added.
Recovered from the suspects were two plastic sachets of suspected “shabu,” a P1,000 marked money, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, Ledesma hinted that the suspects could also be involved in the killing of Police Officer 1 Joemarie Lamis, who was reportedly gunned down by assailants funded by illegal drug groups.
He said two motorcycles were recovered from the suspects, one of which was black which fitted the description of the motorcycle used by the two gunmen.*
