Capitol workers’ bonus to be released next week
The year-end bonus of the more than 2,000 regular and casual employees of the Iloilo Capitol will be released on November 16 and 17, Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. said yesterday.
Defensor said the Provincial Budget Office and Treasurer’s Office are rushing the processing of the requirements for release of the funds.
Meanwhile, he said he is still awaiting the circular from the Department of Budget and Management on how much Performance Incentive Bonus (PIB) the Capitol can release.
“I will give the maximum that would be allowed by law for the PIB,” the governor said.
Defensor said he is being cautious in the giving of bonuses because the Commission on Audit disallowed the bonuses released by the previous administration because these exceeded what was then allowed by the DBM.
The P35,000 PIB in 2008 and P50,000 in 2009 have both been disallowed by the COA.*PNA
