Antique SWAT acquires 25 firearms, 3 body armors
The Special Weapons and Tactics team of the Antique Police Provincial Office (APPO) gets boost with an additional 25 guns and three personal body armors provided by the Police Regional Office 6.
The new guns included 12 Glock 9mm pistols, 7 Jericho 9mm pistols, three Norinco 5.56 mm rifles, and three Hatsan 12 gauge shotguns with complete ammunition.
Senior Supt. Ruperto Floro, APPO director, had organized a 24-man SWAT team to be deployed in any critical incident that may occur in the province and also to intensify the security and crime prevention capabilities of the unit.
Floro said the equipment acquisition is among the programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the APPO SWAT.
He said the team has already gained support from the Provincial Government of Antique through the allocation of budget for its training and equipment build-up.
Aside from the firearms, the APPO has also acquired four sets of complete computers set turned over to police stations of Anini-y, Caluya, Libertad and Sebaste to boost their administrative functions.
It is part of the Philippine National Police Integrated Transformation Program aimed to enhance the equipment build-up of its units.*
