Iloilo NGO-PO Week set
The Iloilo Coalition of Non-government Organizations and People’s Organizations (ICON) will hold the 11th NGO-PO Week in Iloilo on December 1 to 7.
The event, under the theme “Leksyon sa Inagihan: Giya sa Sunod nga Dekada sang Katin-aran, ” will kick off with a caravan from the Provincial Capitol on December 1, 7 a.m., to the respective districts for simultaneous activities.
Participants will be divided into three groups heading toward north, central and south districts to culminate on designated centers for the opening ceremonies.
Venues of convergence for the opening program, are as follows: Guimbal, 1st district; Alimodain and Sta. Barbara, 2nd district; Lambunao, 3rd district; Anilao, 4th district; and Ajuy, 5th district.
On December 4, another caravan will be held this time from various districts to culminate at the Provincial Capitol for the Joint NGO-PO Week celebration, medical and dental Mission, and start of two-day Capability Building Seminar.
Designated coordinators for every district will work out details of arrangement with the municipal mayors of the respective venues and with participating organizations.
Other activities for the week-long celebration are: December 2–Opening of Photo Exhibit; December 3–Forum on Volunteerism; December 5–Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service; December 6–General Assembly and Election of Officers; and December 7–Culminating Activity, Christmas Party, Recognition.
The annual celebration has been institutionalized by Provincial Ordinance
2000-042 and City Regulation Ordinance 2001-190 in recognition of the role of the civil society organizations in nation building.*
