All systems go for Sinadya sa Halaran
ROXAS CITY – It’s all systems go for Sinadya Sa Halaran 2010, which will take place on Dec. 3–8, 2010.
City Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas who was acting mayor for two days last week, said that all the SSH activities have been finalized. He said this during a press conference held last Friday.
Dadivas, also the chairman of the Committee on Tourism, said that several innovations will be introduced in the festival. There’s Sad-Sad sa Kalye, a presentation of giant seafoods like crabs, milk fish, oyster, angel wings, prawns and other marine products that are abundant in Capiz.
Dadivas said that the Sad-Sad sa Kalye, a street dancing and merry making, will involve nine clusters. It will be composed of five barangays in Roxas City. He also invited the public to participate. “This is the fiesta of all fiestas,” Dadivas said.
Councilor Julius Abela said that with the introduction of merry making, spectators will definitely join.
Dadivas added that the parade of all festivals coming from different municipalities will take place and that the Barangay Night and LGU Night will be merged.
City Councilor Emmanuel “Tawi” Billones, Jr. revealed that this year’s fiesta queen is the daughter of the late Rep. Dinggoy Roxas.
Billones also said that former Sen. Mar Roxas, his mother Judy Araneta Roxas and some members of the family, will also grace the SHH.
Meanwhile, Sr. Supt. Khasmer Disumangcop, city police chief, said that five police personnel for every 16 towns will be stationed in order to maintain peace and order during the six-day festival.
