Capiz reorganizes local special body
Roxas City – The provincial government of Capiz has reorganized the Provincial Peace and Order Council.
In his Executive Order No. 45, series of 2010, Governor Victor Tanco subscribes to put an end to the disruption and violation of human rights by criminal and other lawless elements of the society, thus the reorganization of said local special body.
Tanco stressed in said Order that the PPOC aims to put an end to the disruption and violation of human rights by the various terrorist and similar criminal and lawless elements of the society for the nation to move ahead.
He added that the reorganization of said local special body at the provincial level is in response and support to Executive Order No. 773 of then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that directs the further reorganization of said council at all levels.
Tanco also pointed out that the reorganization and strengthening of the PPOC here aims to significantly contribute to the national effort in achieving lasting peace in the entire country especially in rural areas.
With a peaceful community, the government could bring livelihood and infrastructure development programs and projects to said remote areas, he said.
The PPOC here is chaired by Governor Tanco with Vice Governor Esteban Evan Contreras as vice chairperson.
The members of said council include the provincial prosecutor, provincial agriculturist, provincial agrarian reform officer, district engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways, provincial social welfare and
development officer, provincial health officer, provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry, Capiz schools division superintendent.
The other members are the provincial environment and natural resources officer, head of the Philippine Information Agency, Philippine Army’s brigade commander, provincial director of the Philippine National police, bureau chief of the Capiz Provincial Press Bureau, a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and three representatives of the private sector.
In the same Executive Order, the governor has likewise directed all the municipalities and component city within the province to immediately reorganize their respective local peace and order council as mandated in EO 773. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
