Vets get P800 addt’l benefit in all WV district hospitals
Veterans can now avail of their additional medical benefit of P800 in all district hospitals in Western Visayas, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) Regional Director Janette Faderan said.
Faderan said the amount could be availed by the veterans or their surviving spouse or minor children upon admission in district hospitals like in Cabatuan and Lambunao in Iloilo province and also in Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City.
In order to avail of the medical benefit, a veteran must present his PVAO membership card to the hospital admission and inform the PVAO regional office in Iloilo City within 24 hours for their documents to be processed.
Almost 3,000 veterans in Western Visayas, including those from Romblon and Palawan covered by the PVAO regional office, are now considered to be frail and sickly due to old age.
The PVAO Regional Office 6 is urging the veterans to have their membership renewed before the year 2010 ends.
Faderan said although the renewal of membership scheduled on their birthdays, those who have not yet renewed their memberships can still do so.
“They have to personally come to the office to renew their memberships so that we would know how many of them are still living,” she said.
Faderan said surviving spouses and minor children of disabled or dead armed forces can also seek assistance from PVAO regional office at the old Iloilo Capitol building.
Veterans, surviving spouses and minor children should bring barangay certification, government identification cards, or old PVAO identification cards as a proof for renewal and to be able to get their benefits.*PNA
