Celino’s aunt elected Roxas Liga president
ROXAS CITY – Mayor Angel Alan Celino’s aunt, San Jose village chief Maria Celino Capapas, was elected president of the Liga ng mga Barangay here during the election held yesterday at Espacio Verde in Dayao.
Capapas, a member of the Liberal Party, garnered 30 votes to defeat incumbent Liga President Wilson Acervo of Ugyon Kita Capiz, who got only 16 votes.
Elected vice president was Alfredo Albaladejo.
The board of directors is composed of Reynaldo Araw-araw, Nelson Vidal, Virgilio Santos, Deolito Agana, John Paul Arcenas, Emily Ariza, Sulpecio Taburnal and Martin Antonio Pimentel.
The result of the Liga election apparently showed that several village heads identified with UKC have switched loyalties as before the election, the LP supposedly had only 22 barangay captains in its camp while UKC had 25.
Only one out of the 47 village chiefs was not able to vote yesterday.
After the election, Capapas thanked to her colleagues who supported her.
Representatives from the Commission on Elections and the Department of Interior and Local Government declared the winners immediately after the election.*
