ABC officers urged to plan yearly activities
Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog has urged the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) to plan their yearly activities ahead, now that they have elected their officers led by their president Roberto Divinagracia.
Mabilog said Divinagracia must now meet with his fellow officers to discuss their plans for the city and the barangays.
He said the ABC is a potent tool in bringing the city’s programs and projects to the barangays.
The ABC must orient its members of their role as leaders, including barangay management, implementation of local ordinances, peace and security, the mayor said.
Mabilog said the ABC must support all the programs of the City Hall, particularly on health, social services, and various campaigns as these must be brought to the public.
He said that he can’t personally visit the barangays at all times.
Iloilo City has 180 barangays.
Meanwhile, Divinagracia said he will make sure the barangay captains will have a voice in the City Council.
He assured his colleagues in the barangays that as ex-officio member, he will request for projects that will benefit the villages and their constituents.*PNA
