Quake shakes Antique
A magnitude 3.9 earthquake jolted the province of Antique thrice on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOCS) reported over a local radio station in Iloilo City.
The tremor was first recorded at 7:15 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.9 with its epicenter located 13 kilometers southwest of Anini-y, Antique at a depth of 57 kilometers.
The quake was followed by two aftershocks recorded at about 12:17 p.m. with an intensity of 3.0 and its epicenter located 23 kilometers southeast of Anini-y.
The latest was recorded at 12:48 p.m. measuring intensity 2.4 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter is located some seven kilometers southeast, also of Anini-y.
The PHILVOCS said the earthquake was of tectonic origin, not related to any volcano activity in the Visayas region.
Local authorities said there were no reported damage to property or injury to Antique residents, particularly in Anini-y.*PNA
