Dinagyang tickets available Dec. 20
Tickets for the Dinagyang Festival 2011 set January 22 and 23 will be available starting December 20, its organizers said.
The Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI), which aims to raise P2 million from ticket proceeds, said the target earnings is higher compared to last year.
IDFI President Ramon Cua Locsin said they need more funds to construct additional seats for the four judging areas to accommodate more visitors and viewers.
The judging areas are the Freedom Grandstand, Capitol area, Quezon St., and Maria Clara in Iznart St.
Locsin said they will announce soon where the tickets can be bought. Ticket prices vary depending upon the venue.
Tickets for Freedom Grandstand will be sold for P 1,200 for the front stage seats while P 1,000, for the extension stage seats.
Tickets for this area are limited, Locsin said.
For the areas of Quezon and Maria Clara, tickets are worth P900 and P800, respectively.
Locsin said the Iloilo provincial government will take charge of the tickets in the Capitol area.
He said no reservation for tickets is allowed, however, they are still inquiring on how to accommodate foreigners and Filipinos from abroad through online reservation and payments.
‘Pamukaw’
The Dinagyang Festival 2011 will have 15 competing tribes for the Ati-ati contest and 12 tribes for the “Kasadyahan.”
On December 20 at 2 p.m., Ati-ati contesting tribes will hold a “Pamukaw” activity, from the Promenade (at the back of Iloilo Capitol building) to Iznart St., going to J.M. Basa St. and then to the Freedom Grandstand for a short program.
City Tourism Officer Benito Jimena said “Pamukaw” is a wake-up call for everybody that Dinagyang festival will soon be here.
This is one way also to check the preparation of each tribe in terms of their performance, attendance and readiness, he said.*MGC
