Iloilo still on dengue alert
The province of Iloilo is still on alert level with the continuous reports of dengue hemorrhagic fever cases as monitored by the Provincial Health Office.
Dr. Patricia Grace Trabado, provincial health officer, said although last week only eight cases have been reported, they remain alert against the mosquito-borne disease.
“There should be no let up in the campaign against dengue especially now that there is rain,” Trabado said.
Based on the IPHO monitoring from January 1 to December 4, the province has 6,488 cases, including 32 deaths, that have been referred to various provincial and district hospitals in Iloilo.
Towns with the highest number of cases are Cabatuan, 504 cases including five deaths; Tigbauan, 454 cases; Pototan, 432 cases, including two deaths; Guimbal, 377 cases with one death; and Miag-ao, 354 cases, including one death.
Trabado reminded the public to maintain clean surroundings to get rid of the mosquito vectors that thrive in stagnant waters.*PNA
