PNoy’s elder sister soon to be city’s adopted daughter
President Benigno Simeon Aquino III’s elder sister Ma. Elena “Ballsy” Aquino-Cruz, will be declared an “adopted daughter” of Iloilo City during the Dinagyang festival, where she will be the guest of honor.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said Aquino-Cruz has already confirmed her attendance to the January 23 event, which will feature the Ati Tribes Competition.
The president’s sister had earlier performed charity works in the city including, distribution of medicines for dengue patients and turnover of pedicabs, and livelihood projects in San Juan, Molo and Sooc, Arevalo.
She is also pushing for the rehabilitation of a road in San Isidro, Jaro.
Four New Tribes
Meanwhile, four new competing tribes will join the six other tribes in the Kasadyahan Festival on January 22, a day before the highlight of the Ati-ati contest.
These are Tribu Pandayan of Badiangan, Tribu Pagdihon of Dingle, Tribu Kagaynon of Alimodian, and Tribu Hiliusa of Barotac Nuevo.
The six other tribes are Tribu Tultugan of Maasin, Tribu Tinuom of Cabatuan, Tribu Binanog of Lambunao, Tribu Kasag of Banate, Tribu Pantat of Zarraga, and Tribu Patubas of Barotac Viejo.
Tribu Kasag was declared over-all champion in the last festival.*with reports from MGC
