Panay wins special award in EXCELL regional search
The municipality of Panay in Capiz won the special award in Excellence in Environmental Management in the Regional Search for Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government 6.
During the awarding rites in Iloilo City on December 20, Panay was recognized in the first to third class category, with a cash prize of P10,000.
In the fourth to sixth class, the award went to Guimbal, Iloilo.
The EXCELL Awards is a continuing project of DILG Region 6 which recognizes the best managed local governments in the region that demonstrate best practices, achievements and innovations in governance, administration, social services, economic development, environmental management and local legislation.
The project lso aims to advocate for transparency and accountability in governance, positively reinforce good performers, popularize replicable best practices and identify possible interventions to improve the local government unit performance.
Other awardees are: Best Performing Province, Negros Occidental, which also garnered all the special awards for the provincial category; Best Performing City and Excellence in Environmental Management, Economic Development, Social Services, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental; Best Performing First to Third Class Municipality and Excellence in Local Legislation, Oton, Iloilo; Best Performing Fourth to Sixth Class Municipality and Excellence in Local Legislation, Administrative Governance, Social Services, Anilao, Iloilo.
For special awards: Excellence in Local Legislation, Bacolod City and Kabankalan City ; Excellence in Administrative Governance, San Jose, Antique and Iloilo City; Excellence in Social Services, Miagao, Iloilo; and Excellence in Economic Development, Miagao, Iloilo and Guimbal, Iloilo.*
