DOLE warns nurses on fake jobs in Guam
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz warned aspiring nurses who wants to work in Guam against alleged job offers of two hospitals in the island through cyberspace.
With this, the Labor chief identified the fake websites, www.guamgeneralhospital.com and www.westernpacifichospital.com, that are luring applicants to apply online thru fake websites for nursing jobs of about 3,000 that serve about 1 million patients.
A local newspaper in Guam, the said websites were discovered to be using photos of the Naval Hospital in Guam and Indiana University Hospital, and some of the texts were actually copied from the websites of Tampa General Hospital and Rochester General Hospital.
“There is only one hospital in Guam and it is the Guam Memorial Hospital,” Baldoz said.
A report of Labor Attaché Carmelina Velasquez, said that the Guam General Hospital is accepting inquiries from interested applicants with qualified experience and practical skills who can meet their qualifications and who have interest in the global nursing practice.
She noted that if jobseekers are not warned, they can be easily fell prey to these scammers.
“Applicants applying for jobs abroad must be wary of these online job applications,” Baldoz said.*
