Capiz, 2 other towns win in DILG regional search
ROXAS CITY – The province of Capiz and two of its towns were among the awardees in this year’s Regional Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards of the Department of Interior and Local Government 6, Local Government Operations Services Chief Llanie Destacamento said.
Ivisan was declared second runner-up as Best Performing Municipality under the fourth to sixth class category.
Ivisan also placed second runner-up in three special awards, namely, Excellence in Social Services, Excellence in Economic Development, and Excellence in Environmental Management.
Panay town garnered two special awards – champion in Excellence in Environmental Management and second runner-up in Excellence in Local Legislation in the first to third class category.
The province of Capiz was first runner-up in Excellence in Social Services.
DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo and Regional Director Evelyn Trompeta led the awarding rites at Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City last December 20.
The award for Panay was received by Mayor Dante Bermejo and Vice Mayor Gualberto Bernas III while for Ivisan Mayor Felipe Neri Yap, Vice Mayor Marita Mestidio and Planning Officer Lorna Bernales.
Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Stephen Bediones received the award in behalf of Gov. Victor Tanco.
The EXCELL Awards is a continuing project of the DILG 6 which recognizes the best managed local governments in the regions that demonstrate the best practices, achievements as well as innovations in governance, administration, social services, economic development, environmental management and local legislation.*PIA
