DTI steps up watch on pyrotechnic sales
The Department of Trade and Industry in Iloilo has intensified its monitoring of the selling of fireworks for the New Year celebration.
DTI Iloilo Provincial Director Wilhelm Malones said teams have been deployed to check the fireworks being sold in designated areas in Iloilo City.
“We are checking if the fireworks have the Bureau of Product Standard seal to make sure they are safe,” Malones said.
He said that in Iloilo, only the Sto. Nino de Arevalo Multi-Purpose Cooperative is certified to manufacture and sell fireworks.
Aside from it, five other manufacturers from Bulacan and Bohol have also been certified to sell fireworks in Iloilo.
Imported fireworks, however, are prohibited.*PNA
