3 men stabbed on Christmas night
Three men were stabbed on the night of December 25 in Iloilo City, but the police said the Christmas celebration in the city over the weekend was generally peaceful.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) said no firecracker injuries or illegal discharge of firearm was reported from Christmas eve until yesterday morning.
“I coordinated with the ICER (Iloilo City Emergency Response) yesterday and they confirmed, not a single firecracker-related injury,” Senior Supt. Marietto Valerio, ICPO officer-in-charge, said.
Aside from their campaign for a peaceful Christmas celebration, Valerio said
the zero firecracker-related injury can be attributed to the people’s awareness on safety measures.
“People are more careful now, to the point that some opted to celebrate without the noise of firecrackers,” he said.
But Valerio said the ICPO is bracing for the New Year celebration where Ilonggos revel in pyrotechnics and let off firecrackers.

On Christmas night, ICPO recorded three separate stabbing incidents.
One of the victims was identified as Louie Allan Bagolcol, 21, of Brgy. Kasing-Kasing, Molo, Iloilo.
