Man shot by betrayed “shabu” buyer
The police has yet to identify the man who shot a resident of Brgy. Desamparados, Jaro, Iloilo City early Friday morning.
But what was clear to investigators is, the suspect was a buyer of illegal drug “shabu” who was betrayed in a transaction.
The victim, Elmar Alorro, 31, was drinking liquor and playing cara y cruz with his friends in an area behind the Jaro Big Market when the suspect approached them and asked where could he possibly find a certain “Jay-R.”
When he failed to get an answer from Alorro’s group, the suspect left but he
returned, already carrying a .9mm pistol.
He then fired at Alorro’s group but no one was hit at first.
Alorro then tried to approach the suspect who then shot him on the head.
Witnesses claimed the suspect fired at least three times.
The suspect and his companion left hurriedly after residents began throwing stones at them.
Chief Insp. Jay Malong, chief of Jaro Police Station, said the incident stemmed from a botched illegal drug transaction.
The suspect was betrayed so he came looking for the person who transacted with him, but he couldn’t get a straight answer from Alorro’s group, Malong added.
Senior Supt. Marietto Valerio, city police officer-in-charge, confirmed that Alorro is on the watchlist of illegal drug personalities.
Alorro operates in the village of Desamparados and the neighboring Brgy. Bakhaw in Mandurriao district, he added.*
