Man, baby killed in motorcycle crash
A man and his 10-month-old baby girl were killed in a motorcycle accident at around 9:30 p.m. on Christmas night in Pototan town, Iloilo.
Police identified the victims as Noli Osano, 27, an employee of a shipping company, and his daughter, Novy, residents of Brgy. Bagacay, Pototan.
The incident also injured Noli’s wife, who was riding with him, along with two minors Nilo Osano and Flora Mae Pastrana.
Reports said the family came from watching the festival of lights in Pototan town proper.
Noli was carrying his baby in front of him.
Witnesses said the victims were hit by an extension bench sticking out from a passenger jeepney.
Flora Mae said the baby was hit and she attempted to catch her when she fell from her father’s arms.
“But I failed to catch her,” she said.
The victims were brought to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, where Noli and his baby were declared dead on arrival.
The three other victims sustained only minor injuries.
After the incident, police arrested driver Rey Loquite, 42, whose jeepney was carrying the extension seat that hit the motorcycle riders.*
