More help sought for Guimaras on oil spill mess
A higher 'emergency status' is now sought on the current grim scenario of the Guimaras Oil Spill now officially tagged as "811 tragedy."
With an estimated 4,800 liters of bunker fuel discharged daily from the sunken tanker, M/T Solar 1, solons have now been asked to pushed for the declaration of a "National Emergency" here.
The entire Guimaras has since been placed under a State of Calamity yet for former Guimaras Governor and Congresswoman Emily Relucio-Lopez, more help is needed, thus her efforts to elevate said declaration.
In a text message sent to The News Today (TNT), Lopez confirmed her meeting with members of Congress where in the Lower House, Congressman Joel Mayo Almario of 2nd district, Davao Oriental reportedly made the corresponding manifestation.
A move is now underway urging the government to declare a "National Emergency."
"As such we would be able to make clearer representations with various international agencies and organizations such as the European Union (EU), the United States and ASEAN," the former lady solon said.
