Stars, VIPs grace 'Sinadya sa Halaran '06'
Roxas City -- This year's Sinadya sa Halaran could be one of the most celebrity and star-studded edition of the festival.
City mayor Antonio Del Rosario said the city is inviting Secretary Joseph Ace Durano of the Department of Tourism (DOT) to grace the Coronasyon sang Reyna on Dec. 8, which is the fiesta of Roxas City in honor of the Capiceños Patroness, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
Del Rosario said they are also trying to bring in the world-famous Bayanihan Dance Troupe to perform at the coronation night at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.
The chief city executive said they are also making arrangements to bring in the cast of the TV fantasy series "Super Inggo" to showcase their talents before Capiceños at the Artista sa Plaza stage show at the plaza bandstand and Coronasyon sang Reyna. The "serenaders" and master of ceremonies for the coronation night of fiesta queen, Ma. Amparo Lim Ignacio, will come from the popular TV series. The fiesta queen is the daughter of Engr. Ramon V. Ignacio and Leticia Lim-Ignacio.
The Barangay Night for the city's 47 barangays on Dec. 9, which will be revived by the city government to give due recognition to barangay officials and their support to local development efforts, will have Senator Francisco Pangilinan and Congressman Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III as guests of honor.
Sen. Manuel Roxas is arriving on this day to grace the barangay night activity and turnover of housing units to the Gawad Kalinga project at Brgy. Milibili here. The provincial government headed by Gov. Vicente Bermejo is putting up a multi-purpose hall for the use of the GK village.
The coronation night will have the Barrio Fiesta as its motif. The Bayanihan Dance Troupe and Sinadya Dance Troupe of the Schools Division of Roxas City will render special dances together.
The province is bringing in popular band "Kamikazee" to perform during the Halad sang Probinsya free concert in front of the Provincial Capitol at the opening day of the festival on Dec. 6.
A telecommunications company is bringing in Sponge Cola and other celebrities for its own Artista Caravan as one of the highlights of the festival on Dec. 9.
Binibining Pilipinas national beauties will arrive on Dec.6 to grace the festival and the of Mutya sang Sinadya sa Halaran pageant night.
Provincial Tourism Officer Alfonso Bediones, Jr. explained that this year's celebration is dedicated to Capiceños themselves to enable them to enjoy very well Capiz's premier festival. Bediones said that they are "re-focusing" this year's festival to have activities for the "enjoyment" of our people and visitors alike.
The festival fused the Halaran of the province and Sinadya fiesta celebration of the city. Organizers have pointed out that the fusion of the two festivals also symbolizes the unity of the Capiceños.
